PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Friday’s severe weather threat moves west Saturday, approaching parts of the Willamette Valley.
The Willamette Valley remains clear of Saturday’s ‘marginal risk’ for severe weather during the afternoon and evening hours. A marginal risk means there’s a one-out-of-five chance of seeing severe weather such as large hail and damaging winds.
This is Oregon’s first widespread threat of severe weather this spring season. The severe weather threat stretches into eastern sections of Lane, Linn, and Marion counties Saturday afternoon.
Southern sections of the Willamette Valley fall under the ‘not severe’ category, but lightning, small hail, and gusty winds are still possible.
A few of these thunderstorms could work their way north into the Portland and Vancouver metro areas during the late evening hours on Saturday.
No severe thunderstorms are expected for the northern Willamette Valley this weekend.
