Fentanyl dealer sought by police in overdose death caught on televised Portland Trail Blazers game

A Washington County sheriff's deputy happened to spot a suspect wanted in a fentanyl overdose case while watching a Portland Trail Blazers game on TV. Billy Ray Trueblood was seated behind the bench, over the right shoulder of Coach Terry Stotts. The deputy called the lead investigator, who turned on the TV, verified it was "Billy," and alerted officers at the Moda Center to arrest him.U.S. Attorney's Office

Investigators found their suspect by paying close attention to a televised Trail Blazers basketball game.

The young man with a mustache seated behind the team’s bench, over the right shoulder of then-Coach Terry Stotts, on May 3, 2019, resembled Billy Ray Trueblood.
