The new boss also spent time with Oregon Business & Industry.

With a little more than two months before Linda Wilhelms Navarro leaves her post, the Oregon Bankers Association has hired the longtime leader's replacement.

Scott Bruun, a former Oregon House member who's also filled a key role with Oregon Business & Industry, will assume the role June 10. Navarro is retiring July 15.

Bruun served three terms in Oregon's House and most recently worked as OBI's head of government affairs.

“For our state’s communities and businesses to thrive, Oregon must have healthy and robust banking partners," Bruun said in a release. "OBA, through its fantastic staff and dedicated members, will continue its critical work to ensure the health and vibrancy of Oregon’s banking industry. I look forward to helping lead this great organization to improve the overall business and banking climate, foster innovation, and prioritize the financial well-being of every Oregonian."

OBA Chair Ted Austin, who's the national head of personal trust administration at U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management, said in the same release that Bruun's "strategic vision, leadership acumen, and dedication to advancing the interests of Oregon banks and our customers make him the perfect fit to lead our organization forward."

Navarro has worked for OBA for almost 28 years.

Bruun "brings unique experience and energy that will strengthen our voice and the future of the Oregon banking community," Navarro said. "I am excited to watch him thrive as he leads an exceptional organization with the best of the best when it comes to our members and staff.”
