News in brief.

Thirty years after Mt. Angel introduced its development code, it’s poised to adopt updated guidelines.

Since 2015, the city has been refreshing its code with the help of Angelo Planning Group and a $23,000 grant from the State of Oregon. The process started with input from stakeholders, moved into a writing phase, and will end soon with a council vote.

The council and planning commission have met to consider the changes and language proposed by planners Serah Breakstone and Cathy Corliss. After public hearings this fall, the new code will likely go to a vote in early 2017.
