As KATU News has reported, an emergency motion was filed in federal court to try and stop the new law.
The law is set to go into effect on December 8. The State of Oregon has until this Wednesday, November 30, to file a response to the emergency motion for a preliminary injunction.
Oregon voters passed Measure 114 during the midterm election. It will require people to get a permit, take a training course and do a background check.
The measure also bans magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds.
