Gov. Tina Kotek (D-Ore.) was in Corvallis on Thursday, visiting the Hewlett Packard facility as part of her One Oregon Listening tour.

As the governor's first wildfire season approaches, we asked her about her plans to prepare for it.

Kotek says she will continue to invest in wildfire preparations to help minimize the destruction that wildfires impose.

"I'm continuing to make sure we invest in preparing communities to be prepared if the worst happens," said Kotek. "Making sure we have immediate emergency response when a fire does erupt, because if we are getting at it quicker than we won't see as much damage," said Gov. Kotek. "We saw that last fire season, we want to continue those investments."

Over the last few years wildfires have increased in devastation, these investments prove to be more than necessary.

Gov. Kotek will visit every county in Oregon within her first year in office through the "One Oregon Listening Tour" to build partnerships across the state and address issues with homelessness, mental health, and education.
