Portland’s oldest Irish bar brewed 264 gallons of Irish coffee to set a Guinness World Record March 17 during its 14th annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Workers at Paddy’s Bar & Grill spent five hours mixing 165 gallons of brewed coffee with 50 gallons of whiskey, and 25 gallons each of simple syrup and heavy whipping cream in a stainless steel brewery tank to yield a thousand liters of Irish coffee to break the record of 888 liters, according to OregonLive. Ingredients were donated by Umbria Coffee Roasters, Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey, and Alpenrose Dairy. Patrons paid $5 each for a pour of the brew, a portion of which benefitted the nonprofit Children’s Cancer Association in Portland. Guinness will review the evidence submitted by the bar before letting the bar know if it set a record.
