According to police, the march started at The Fields Park on NW Overton Street around 9 p.m. and lasted roughly two hours. During the demonstration, some people spray-painted buildings and broke windows. Police say when the destructive acts began, officers warned the crowd over a loudspeaker.

A grocery store, restaurant, bank, shipping business, and several coffee shops were vandalized.

Two arrests were made during the demonstration.

Darell Kimberlin, 31, was arrested for criminal mischief, and a 17-year-old boy was arrested for interfering with a police officer.

Kimberlin was issued a citation and released due to the COVID-19 restrictions in place at the county jail, according to police. The teenage boy was released back to his parents with a hearing date to attend.

Police say their investigation into the vandalism continues. Anyone who believes they were a victim of the damage from Saturday night but has not yet reported it is encouraged to do so and reference case number 21-680281, according to police.
