Sen. Merkley speaks on early wildfire season Oregon is facing

PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon is currently home to the largest active wildfire in the nation – the Bootleg Fire. The wildfires burning on the west coast have sent smoke all the way to the east coast.

Joining Your Voice Your Vote to talk about the situation Oregon, along with the rest of the west coast, faces this wildfire season is Senator Jeff Merkley.

He discussed what he is doing right now to help Oregon during this fire season, including making sure the National Guard is available to help, and addressing staffing and equipment needs.

Merkley says he's also trying to secure federal funding for future forest management.
