Defense lawyer hired to review past convictions, sentences abruptly resigns from Multnomah County DA’s Office

Ernest Warren, a longtime criminal defense lawyer hired to lead a new unit reviewing convictions and sentences, resigned Wednesday from the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Mike Schmidt declined to say why Warren resigned, saying only that he and the veteran attorney “decided to part ways.”
