SPRINGFIELD, Ore. --- The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission voted to cancel Along Came Trudy's alcohol license following a string of COVID-related violations.

Ultimately, commissioners agreed with the findings of an Oregon Administrative Law Judge that Along Came Trudy stayed open for inside dining despite an Executive Order that limited that activity in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

The Springfield restaurant received multiple fines related to the violations in 2021.

In December of 2020, OSHA inspected the restaurant following multiple complaints of COVID violations. Months later, they were fined $9,215 for keeping their their indoor dining open.

Then, again in July of 2021, they were fined an additional $42,525 for not making the appropriate changes. It's unclear at this time if those fines were ever paid.

The commission acknowledged the political nature of the decision to stay open despite orders, however, they said that's an issue that would need to be handled by the courts.

In reviewing the Springfield case, Commissioners balanced the challenges all restaurants faced in operating compliantly during the pandemic and the big picture legal questions raised by their counsel.
